Transforming Healthcare

Pain changes everything. Chronic pain does not have one specific cause. Many times, when we see a patient for the first time, they have literally run out of other options and have nowhere else to turn. They are scared, angry, and hurt and searching for answers.

Pain is multimodal; and no one person suffering with chronic pain is identical to another.

But they all have one thing in common: stress. Stress is something that acts on the body. Stress can be physical, like a car collision; emotional, such as fear, this is a big one given today’s current challenges; or chemical, poor diet, environmental toxins, drugs etc. Increased stress leads to an increased pain response and over time leads to an interpretation by the brain through the nervous system that something or multiple somethings are going wrong in the body. This is then interpreted as pain.

So many people are suffering and struggling daily, trying in any way to cope with the stress that has become rampant in our society. Given today’s realities of COVID-19 and the protests of injustice around the world, we are living in uncertain and stressful times.

This is extremely important to understand. Chronic pain sufferers have many times been bombarded with stressors for long periods of time and their systems have become hyper-excited, which leads to a vicious cycle of even more stress and increased pain.

Enter Edgar Ramirez, M.D., a visionary leader in the Interventional Pain Management field. Dr. Ramirez is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist and Interventional Pain Medicine Physician. As the Medical Director at B3 Medical, Dr. Ramirez is dedicated to empowering patients, their children, and future generations by creating a revolutionary approach to pain care based on integrating parallel systems of wellness care and disease management. The clinic provides cutting-edge treatments in sports medicine, interventional pain, regenerative medicine, and functional therapies. “Our goal is to help treat as many patients as we can and get them get back to a pain-free, active life,” says Dr. Ramirez.

“We need to have a system that looks at all the possible causes of pain and not with just symptomatic relief.”

Focusing on minimally invasive nano-procedures, neurology, biochemistry, functional movement, and psychosocial activities, B3 Medical provides a patient-centered approach to assisting in the correction of the causes of chronic pain while reducing dependency on medications.

B3 Medical is also paving the way in regenerative medicine with its proprietary B3 Regen system. B3 Regen’s innovative protocols combine Mesenchymal stem cells and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) to promote the body’s natural healing of damaged tissues. “Our bodies are meant to heal”, says Ramirez, “sometimes, they need a little bit of coaxing. This is one of the ways we have been leading the way in assisting patients who not only want to be out of pain, but also want to reach their optimal levels of performance.”

This approach led to B3 Medical being listed in Inc. 5000 as one of America’s fastest-growing private companies in America. In addition, B3 Medical’s innovative approach to a patient-centered healthcare system led to the Brown University Inaugural Healthcare Leadership award.

Dr. Ramirez believes that the B3 Medical approach should become the standard of care in chronic pain management. In addition, to be effective long term will require an intensive educational strategy along with legislative changes to support paradigm shift to counter the illusion of pain-care as exclusively drugs and surgery. Ramirez concludes our progressive perspective in sports medicine and pain management will provide a real understanding of a patient’s accountability in the quality of their health and provide the means for creating and sustaining an effective national healthcare system.
