Lakeside Animal Hospital
After many years of partnering with pet parents to provide comprehensive veterinary care throughout the Tampa Bay area, Dr. Colleen Elligott decided to settle close to home at Lakeside Animal Hospital in Odessa. There, she feels she has the best job in the world, with clients and patients who are like family and friendly and talented coworkers who share her vision of delivering superior individualized care to each and every patient.
Dr. Elligott graduated from Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in 1993. She worked in the Washington, D.C area in international emergency assistance for many years before pursuing her true calling as a veterinarian. She graduated from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005, then completed a year-long internship in medicine and surgery at Florida Veterinary Specialists and an additional year of residency training in ophthalmology at The Ohio State University. She practiced emergency medicine at Blue Pearl from 2007- 2011. Dr. Elligott has been in general practice since, initially working alongside a veterinary dermatologist before joining Lakeside in May 2014. Many talented specialty mentors have contributed to her ability to competently offer a wide range of veterinary care. Dr. Elligott is proud to be Fear Free Certified and is committed to tranquil, stress-free patient visits. Having lived in Spain, she enjoys serving Spanish-speaking families in their native language.
Veterinary medicine is her passion! She often spends her time away from the hospital sipping [decaffeinated] coffee while reading or listening to lectures on diverse veterinary medical topics. She and her son share their home with several rescue dogs (Brittany, Catahoula, Chihuahuas, Daschund) and cats, a cockatiel and a hamster. When not caring for pets, Dr. Elligott enjoys reading, running, yoga, karate, indoor rowing, kettle bell training in addition to dragon boat and stand up paddleboard paddling.
