Board Certified, American Board of Optometry

Dr. Hoover was born and raised in St. Louis, MO.  After completing a rotation at the Eye Institute of West Florida, she fell in love with Tampa. She graduated from University of Missouri – St. Louis, College of Optometry in 2016, and then moved to the Tampa Bay area.

During her training, she completed a rotation in Low Vision at the Chicago Lighthouse for the Blind, an eye disease rotation at Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Oklahoma, a primary eye care rotation in Kaneohe Bay Marine Corps Base in Hawaii. In 2016, Dr. Hoover received an Excellence in Low Vision for Outstanding Academic Achievements Award. Dr. Hoover is a diplomate with the American Board of Optometry.

She began her professional career at an ophthalmology practice in Lakeland. She worked alongside ophthalmologists to deepen her knowledge of eye diseases, fit scleral lenses on patients with irregular corneas, remove foreign bodies, treat bacterial corneal ulcers, treat pink eye (conjunctivitis), and conduct diabetic and dry eye exams.

Dr. Hoover currently practices in South Tampa and Carrollwood.  She fits the latest contact lenses available including multifocal, toric (astigmatism), multifocal with astigmatism lenses, dailies and color contacts to brighten your look. Dr. Hoover believes it is important to maintain a good contact lens care regimen, though she recognizes life is busy and can help patients compensate for less than perfect lens care.  She diagnoses and treats red eye emergencies with same day appointments to ensure vision does not get compromised.

Dr. Hoover’s mission is to provide quality primary eye care to her patients age three and up. She believes in addressing all concerns and thoroughly communicating treatments to her patients.
