Dr. David J. Vargas is a board-certified Diagnostic Radiologist currently serving the Tampa Bay area since 2003. He attended the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor, Michigan and completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He became a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology following a two-year fellowship at the Medical College of Georgia in 1996. He then joined private practice in Georgia with a primary focus in neuroradiology and upon request, he expanded his services to include Interventional Radiology. Since his arrival in Tampa, he has maximized his expertise, furthering his training in cardiac imaging and women’s imaging, and cultivating his special interest in vertebral augmentation or Kyphoplasty.

He sincerely believes that he is “a cog in a well-oiled care machine”, as he humbly admits that it takes a team of excellent associate radiologists, radiology technologists, nurses, and ancillary staff to provide the finest care for his patients. In 2013, he joined Sunshine radiology, now Envision Physician Services. He currently provides medical services to the Western division of AdventHealth and is on medical staff at 11 hospital systems in addition to 4 satellite outpatient centers.

He is a “Doctor’s Doctor” when attending to referring physicians’ needs and he is dedicated to providing all patients with the utmost compassion and care. With a sincere love for his craft, he knows at the end of each day that he has saved at least one life. Dr. Vargas’ hobbies include playing tennis, sailing, biking, painting, motorcycle riding, and spending time with his family. Dr. Vargas is thankful and honored to be one of Tampa’s Best Doctors.
