Dr. Scott Shettle is a native Floridian. He was born and raised in Clearwater, Florida. Growing up, he watched his father, a local ophthalmologist care for his patients and decided he too wanted to dedicate his life to helping others and become an eye doctor.  Dr. Shettle graduated from Pinellas Park High School.  He received his undergraduate degree from Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Dr. Shettle went on to acquire his Doctorate of Optometry (OD) degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1994. Thereafter, he earned his license as both a National and Florida Board Certified Optometric Physician.  While attending Nova, he was trained in all areas of Optometry, including comprehensive medical optometry, contact lens specialty, low vision, binocular vision, geriatrics, ocular pathology and pharmacology. He also attended two externships that focused directly on cataracts, pre and post-operative surgical care, ocular diseases, glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration. 

Over the course of the past 26 years in practice, Dr. Shettle has had many opportunities to serve in professional memberships. His professional memberships include: the American Optometric Association, American Optometric Society, Florida Optometric Association, Pinellas County Optometric Association and former Vice President of the Pinellas County Optometric Association. Also, during this time in practice, Dr. Shettle has received numerous awards and recognition for his commitment to exceptional quality care, patient care and services. He has received recognition for his dedication and success in contact lens fittings, clinical excellence in refractive surgery, management and treatment of pre and post-operative surgical patients. 

Dr. Shettle specializes in comprehensive primary eye care, medical eye care, contact lens fittings,  and surgical co-management.  Shettle Family Eye Care & Eye Wear was founded by Dr. Shettle and his wife Nicole in 2009. It is an independent, privately owned, professionally operated office of optometry. Enhancing and preserving the gift of sight is the practice philosophy. For the past eleven years, Dr. Shettle and his wife have worked together in keeping the personalized care and total vision wellness of their patients a priority. Dr. Shettle’s warm demeanor, thoughtfulness, and meticulous clinical skills are what he has become known for by his patients. Dr. Shettle and wife, Nicole were married in 1995. They live in Clearwater with their two children, daughter Channing and son Logan.  In his free time, Dr. Shettle enjoys spending time with his family, restoring his vintage 1967 VW bus, swimming, gardening, and fishing.
