St. Luke’s Cataract & Laser Institute

Paul W. Glass, OD is an optometric physician specializing in medical eye care. He diagnoses and treats diseases of the eyes.

His services include: annual eye exams, diabetic eye exams, dry eye care featuring Lipiflow, conjunctivitis and ocular allergy treatment. “As a Professional Member of the American Diabetes Association, I have a keen interest in the early detection of Diabetic Retinopathy,” said Dr. Glass. “It’s highly important for anyone with diabetes to have an annual eye exam in order to preserve their eyesight.”

With over 15 years of experience in eye care, Dr. Glass is very effective at diagnosing troublesome conditions. “An eye exam can often detect an asymptomatic systemic disease,” said Glass. In addition, Dr. Glass works closely with cataract surgeons helping to manage patient post-operative care. “St. Luke’s has pioneered what cataract surgery is today using the most advanced surgical techniques using the highest technology intraocular lens implants,” said Glass. “My role is to collaborate with our surgeons to ensure optimal vision– both immediately after surgery and long term.”

Dr. Glass is originally from Miami, Florida. There, he completed part of his undergraduate pre-optometry coursework at the University of Miami before transferring on an accelerated path to Nova Southeastern University’s College of Optometry in 1998 and earned a Bachelor of Vision Science degree in 2000 and his Doctorate of Optometry degree in 2002.

Dr. Glass sees patients at the St. Luke’s Clinics in Tampa and St. Petersburg, Florida. New patients are always welcome and most medical insurances are accepted.

Dr. Glass, his wife, and 2 children live in New Tampa.  When not at the office, you can usually find Dr. Glass at the local ice arena as an assistant coach of his kids’ hockey teams. As a family, the Glass’ are proud supporters of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
