Dr. Neel Patel, M.D. is a highly regarded physician serving the Tampa Bay area, specializing in General and Addiction Psychiatry. Born and raised in Lake City, Florida, he developed a strong interest in the medical field early on. Dr. Patel completed his undergraduate studies at The University of South Florida, earning a degree in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Physics. It was during this time that he solidified his passion for Psychiatry and made the decision to pursue it as a career.
Continuing his education at Ross University, Dr. Patel obtained his medical degree. Following that, he completed his Psychiatry training at The University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital. Throughout his residency, Dr. Patel became increasingly passionate about the field of Addiction and took it upon himself to become an advocate in the community. He dedicated his efforts to educating the public about the signs and symptoms of opioid overdose and the use of reversal agents such as Naloxone to prevent them. Driven by his commitment to making a difference, he decided to pursue a Fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry at The University of South Florida.
Equipped with years of extensive training and experience, Dr. Patel realized his vision in 2022 when he opened his own private practice, I Care Psych, situated in Land O’Lakes, Florida. Recognizing the pressing need for accessible care in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and prevailing economic conditions, his goal with I Care Psych is to dismantle the barriers that hinder individuals from receiving the mental health and addiction services they require. By doing so, he aims to combat the stigma surrounding Behavioral Health.
Dr. Patel understands that Psychiatry is a complex and nuanced field that impacts individuals from all walks of life. Taking this into account, he adopts a patient-centered approach, tailoring each treatment plan to suit the unique needs of every individual. Witnessing his patients achieve remission is an immensely gratifying experience for Dr. Patel, and he remains dedicated to being there for them every step of the way.
In his leisure time, Dr. Patel cherishes moments spent with his family and friends. He finds joy in engaging in various sports activities such as basketball, tennis, and kickball. As an ardent sports fan, he proudly supports the Miami Heat as well as the local Tampa Bay teams, including the Buccaneers, Lightning, and Rays.
