Dr. Reena Kavilaveettil is a board-certified Neurologist with a sub-specialty certification in Electrodiagnostic Medicine and Headache. She has completed her fellowship and is board-certified in Clinical Neurophysiology with a special interest in Epilepsy, Seizure, Parkinson’s disease, Myasthenia gravis, Migraine, and the treatment of neuromuscular disorders.

At St. Mary’s Neurology Center, patients are assured comprehensive, state-of-the-art care. Her office is equipped to do EMG/NCV for electrodiagnostic studies that are widely used to diagnose neuromuscular disorders and EEG / Extended EEG studies for seizure/epilepsy patients. Other services include Vagal Nerve Stimulator (VNS), which controls refractory Seizures, and Deep brain stimulator (DBS) which treats disabling symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and Essential Tremor. She is able to adjust and manage both VNS and DBS once implanted by a surgeon. She also does numerous Botox injections for FDA approved neurological conditions.

Dr. Kavilaveettil completed her basic medical training from Medical College Kottayam in India and finished her Internal Medicine Preliminary at Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Illinois. She completed her Neurology Residency and Neurophysiology Fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago and then moved to Florida in 2005 where she has since been practicing in the Tampa area for almost 18 years. At St. Mary’s Neurology Center, she manages being a solo practitioner while also being a consultant Neurologist at the nearby hospital.

Her office prides itself on treating patients with excellent care and has thus been rewarded with referrals and positive experiences from patients and their families. Dr. Kavilaveettil, known to many as Dr. Kavi., is passionate about bringing the most advanced treatments to the Tampa area while providing excellent outcomes with compassion. Her office offers national and international Telemedicine services within the subspecialty. In 2023, her mission is community education and raising awareness for the complex diseases she treats in the office.
