Dental Arts of Palm Harbor – Cutting-Edge Dentistry

Dr. Whitney Gray’s mission is to provide personalized, compassionate treatment for his patients. He believes in providing excellent dentistry in an atmosphere of genuine empathy, kindness, and good communication.

Dr. Gray was raised in Tampa, FL. He moved away to study at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (undergraduate) and Chapel Hill (post graduate, DDS).

He began his dental career in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands after graduation and practiced there for several years. He spent the past 6 years in St. Thomas and St. John, USVI.  His practice grew quickly based on word-of-mouth, and patients would routinely travel from the nearby British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico to be seen by him.  Imagine clearing customs because you wanted to see a particular dentist!

Dr. Gray recently returned to Tampa to join Dr. Larry Lieberman at Dental Arts of Palm Harbor, providing exceptional dental care in the Tampa area.

Dr. Gray is relaxed, down to earth, and is well known for his wonderful professional bedside manner.  He has an innate way of connecting with people—his patients love him! His great sense of humor and warm demeanor immediately put even the most nervous patients at ease.  He prides himself on taking the time to explain things in a way that is easy to understand and showing great empathy toward his patients.

Cutting-edge dentistry is Dr. Gray’s passion and he pushes himself to learn the most up-to-date technology through research and continuing education.  He has undergone advanced training in cosmetic dentistry, smile design, restorative dentistry, laser dentistry, endodontics (root canals), and full mouth reconstruction.  Current areas of study include implantology, sleep dentistry, and facial esthetics (Botox, laser induced collagen repair).

“I’m very fortunate to be genuinely passionate about dentistry”, Dr. Gray states.  “When you enjoy learning about your field and consistently strive to master your craft, you never have to work a day in your life.  It’s the greatest hobby in the world”.

He continues: “It’s about balance.  A doctor who does excellent work clinically but cannot connect with their patients like human beings is not successful in my opinion.  At the same time, a doctor who is very likeable but lacks skill clinically will not have long-term success either.  Contrary to popular opinion, both features are necessary for success”.

In his free time, Dr. Gray enjoys the spending time on the water and participating in activities such as freediving, scuba diving, and spearfishing. He is an avid traveler and most enjoys being outdoors camping, fishing, or hunting. At home, Dr. Gray practices woodworking and keeps saltwater reef aquariums.

Dr. Gray is a member of the Florida Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Pinellas County Dental Association, the World Clinical Laser Institute, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Virgin Islands Dental Association, and the American Dental Association.
