Total Spine & Brain Institute

Dr. Tien Le has been a trusted name in spine and brain health in Tampa Bay since 2014. A rare asset to our community, Dr. Le is not only a Board-Certified neurosurgeon, but he is also dual Fellowship-Trained in minimally invasive spine surgery and complex spinal deformities. He is one of only a select few in the world who have been trained by Dr. Kevin Foley, regarded by many as the father of modern-day minimally invasive spine surgery. Dr. Le is also certified in the use of robotic assisted spine surgery. He has the distinction of being the first surgeon in Hillsborough County to perform this procedure using the leading-edge Mazor X™ system.

As founder of Total Spine & Brain Institute, Dr. Le leads a team approach to address each patient’s neurosurgical and spinal conditions. This translates to an attentive, tailored treatment plan for each patient. He has the clinical judgment to understand a patient may not need surgery just because they have been diagnosed with a condition on an imaging study, and nonsurgical conservative treatments are always considered first. If surgery is the answer, however, his patient-tailored approach is focused on providing a targeted, minimally invasive surgery, which reduces collateral damage to surrounding normal tissues leading to faster recovery times.

Dr. Le received his medical degree at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine (USF) and earned the distinction of Neurosurgery Student of the Year during his senior year. His neurosurgery residency was done at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic and USF, where he was elected and served as Chief Resident during his final year.

Dr. Le’s first fellowship in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery was during residency at USF where he trained under Dr. Juan Uribe. He was then selected to the prestigious postgraduate Spinal Surgery Fellowship at Semmes-Murphey Neurologic & Spine Institute. While there, he also obtained additional fellowship training in scoliosis, deformity, and complex reconstructive spine surgery.

Dr. Le is a proud resident of South Tampa. Outside of work, he achieves balance in his life by spending time with his family and enjoying hobbies such as tennis and golf.
