A South Carolina native, Dr. Shannon Ivey has found her home in Tarpon Springs, Florida, drawn to its welcoming community and natural beauty. She is the owner of Hidden Oaks Animal Hospital, a state-of-the-art facility that includes a veterinary hospital, a separate cat hospital, a renovated boarding facility, and her personal residence—all nestled within a peaceful, wooded sanctuary.

Dr. Ivey earned her Bachelor of Science from Clemson University and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee, where she had the unique opportunity to care for the university mascot, Smokey, as well as the Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales. A dedicated leader in her field, she has served as President of multiple Veterinary Medical Associations. At Hidden Oaks, she is committed to mentoring students and interns, partnering with St. Petersburg College and Tarpon Springs High School. The hospital takes pride in seeing its employees and alumni achieve educational milestones at every level, from high school and veterinary technology to Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees.

Dr. Ivey and her team uphold the highest standards of veterinary care, offering personalized, compassionate treatment—even adapting throughout the pandemic with telemedicine, home delivery, outdoor exams, and contactless payments. Hidden Oaks Animal Hospital provides advanced services, including laser surgery, anesthesia, digital radiology, ultrasonography, dentistry, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, laser therapy, cryotherapy, behavioral consultation, and dermatology. A board-certified cardiologist visits the hospital monthly.

Celebrating 30 years of AAHA accreditation—a distinction held by fewer than 15% of veterinary hospitals—Hidden Oaks has also been honored with the Best of Tarpon Springs Animal Hospital Award annually from 2020 to 2024.

Beyond veterinary medicine, Dr. Ivey is a passionate supporter of local animal charities and disaster relief efforts. Inspired by her daughter, a talented double bassist, she actively participates in the Tarpon Springs Leadership Conservatory for the Arts, Tampa Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, and Pinellas Youth Symphony, where she serves on the Board of Directors.

With moss-draped oaks and roaming wildlife, the serene setting of Hidden Oaks Animal Hospital reflects Dr. Ivey’s commitment to providing a warm, comforting environment where pets receive exceptional care with advanced therapies.
