Burr & Forman LLP

If you work in the real estate industry in the Tampa Bay area, chances are you have worked with Richmond (Rick) C. Flowers on a real estate transaction at some point during his 28-year career. Rick is a partner at Burr & Forman LLP and a member of its real estate practice group in Tampa.

His practice focuses primarily on commercial real estate transactions, representing clients in real estate acquisitions and dispositions, real estate financing, land use and zoning matters, easement disputes, title insurance, commercial retail leasing, condominium formations and conversions, and landlord/tenant matters. He routinely represents financial institutions in documenting, negotiating, and closing real estate and asset-based loans.

In addition to his transactional work, Rick also litigates real estate-related disputes, breach of contract matters, creditors’ rights cases, and foreclosure and eviction proceedings. In his deal-making approach, Rick prides himself on being a “deal maker” rather than a “deal killer”, focusing on issues that truly matter to the client rather than minor concerns that could derail an agreement.

Rick graduated from the University of Florida in 1993 with a B.S.B.A. in Finance and Economics, with Honors, and earned his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Stetson University College of Law in 1996, where he served as Assistant Editor of the Stetson Law Review.

Rick has received numerous accolades, including:

• The Best Lawyers in America® – Land Use and

   Zoning (since 2023)

• Honored Listee in Marquis Who’s Who – 2025

• Florida’s Top Lawyers – 2025 (Tampa Bay Times)

He is a graduate of Leadership St. Pete (Class of 2012), a past board member of St. Pete PAL and the Tampa Bay SPCA, and a current board member of The Russell Foundation.
