Ivan Suñer MD MBA, Marc Peden MD, Nadim Rayess MD

Drs. Ivan Suñer, Marc Peden, and Nadim Rayess of Retina Associates of Florida provide world-class retina care in the Tampa Bay Area. They are the only physicians treating eye tumors in Central Florida. They earned “Best Doctors” recognition by their peers for the last 15 years. They have served in academic departments and offer the same cutting-edge retina care with a customer-centered focus in a private practice. They are involved in clinical trials bringing novel therapies for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal diseases, and eye tumors.  They lecture in international meetings such as the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Specialists, Retina Society, and Macula Society, as well as provide education to their colleagues. They have published over 100 articles in major journals. 

Dr. Suñer is originally from Puerto Rico. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and with Honors from Yale University School of Medicine. He performed his ophthalmology and retina training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. He is a Veteran of the United States Air Force, where he received the “Meritorious Service” Medal. He was a professor at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and at Duke University, where he received the “Professor of the Year” Award on five occasions. He joined RAF in 2009.   

Dr. Peden is a native Floridian from Jacksonville. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees with high honors from the University of Florida. He then undertook ophthalmology residency and retina fellowship training at the University of Florida. He was a professor at University of Florida in Gainesville and Director of the Retina Service. He earned “Professor of the Year” accolades on several occasions for his mentorship in training the next generation of ophthalmologists and retina specialists. Dr. Peden joined RAF in 2012. 

Dr Rayess is originally from California, but his family relocated to Tampa. He earned an honors degree from the University of California, Irvine, and his medical degree from American University in Beirut.  He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Southern California, and his retina fellowships at Wills Eye Hospital and Stanford University.  He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.  He speaks Spanish and French.  He joined RAF in 2021.

RAF has offices in South Tampa, North Tampa, Brandon, and Lakeland. They accept most insurance plans and obtain insurance preauthorization.
