Child And Adolescent Tampa Bay Psychiatry

Dr. Ramirez-Cook treats children, adolescents and adults with a wide range of mental health illnesses including; Eating Disorders, Depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Bipolar Disorder using  evidence based clinical treatment.

Dr. Ramirez-Cook is distinguished as one of Tampa’s specifically trained physicians in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. After spending time as the Medical Director for several mental health facilities and clinics in the Bay Area, she started her own premiere private practice Child and Adolescent Tampa Bay Psychiatry, located in South Tampa.

While the coronavirus pandemic rapidly swept across the world, Dr. Ramirez-Cook recognized how mental health challenges began to rise significantly due to the varying amount of stressors and elevated anxiety. “People are really struggling. This has been a challenging time for all of us, and having access to mental healthcare is especially difficult due to the stigma and negative perceptions our community have towards mental health disease. It’s amazing the positive response people can have in their lives when they can be heard,” she says.

Onelia Ramirez-Cook, MD, DFAPA, graduated Cum Laude from the Universidad Nacional Pedro Henriquez Ureña in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. She continued her residency in Adult Psychiatry and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center. She furthered her training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the New York Medical College and is a Distinguished Fellow Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology.
