Mike Trentalange focuses his practice exclusively on medical negligence and civil trial practice. For almost 35 years, Mr. Trentalange has helped hundreds of clients secure the compensation they deserve after catastrophic injury or death of a loved one. In 2022, Mr. Trentalange obtained a verdict in excess of $68 million in a case involving severe brain injury and, in 2018, a verdict exceeding $41 million in an obstetrical malpractice case. Mr. Trentalange obtained verdicts in excess of $10 million in 2016, 2014, and 2013, as well as many other settlements and verdicts exceeding $1 million over the course of his career.

Mr. Trentalange is uniquely qualified to handle medical negligence cases. In addition to a law degree, he holds a master’s degree from Harvard Medical School, where he spent two years examining issues arising at the intersection of law and medicine with a particular interest in medical ethics. 

Mr. Trentalange has written and lectured on medical topics including more maternal mortality, medical resident work hours, physician aid in dying, as well as on legal topics including evidence and Civil Procedure.  

What sets Mike apart is his commitment to excellence coupled with and unparalleled work ethics, two attributes he credits to his time spent in the United States Army. “ I learned the importance of getting things right the first time and how to handle stress at a fairly young age.”  Mr. Trentalange has vowed never to be outworked by any of his opponents. Mr. Trentalange is deeply committed to the advancement of legal professionalism. He is Board Certified as a Civil Trial Lawyer by the Florida Bar and by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Mike is active in the Florida Justice Association and the American Association for Justice. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association and a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association and the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association. He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell, and has been recognized by Florida Trend Magazine as a member of Florida’s legal elite.  Mr. Trentalange is a 15 time honoree as a Florida super lawyer. He is a Bronze Life Member of the NAACP. 

For the past 24 years, Mr. Trentalange practiced alongside his partner, Elizabeth Kelley — the Kelley of Trentalange & Kelley. In September of 2023, Amy Trentalange joined her father’s firm as its fifth attorney. Amy will continue to work on medical malpractice cases with her father.
