You won’t see Mike Trentalange’s name on benches or billboards, and he hasn’t run a TV commercial in over two decades. “If advertisers spent as much effort on improving their service as they do on advertising, they wouldn’t have to advertise.” Mike believes the best way to attract new clients is by delivering exceptional results. Not surprisingly, most of his cases come from referrals by other lawyers.
For over 30 years, Mike has specialized in medical malpractice, representing patients and families who have suffered avoidable harm due to medical negligence. His deep understanding of medical issues sets him apart. In addition to his law degree, he holds a Master of Science from Harvard Medical School, where he spent two years studying issues in law and medicine. “I flew to Boston every Monday morning, returning Wednesday night. It was grueling but well worth it.” Mike has written and spoken extensively on patient safety processes, maternal mortality, informed consent, and suicide prevention.
Mike’s courtroom successes include multiple verdicts exceeding $10 million, including a $68.5 million verdict for a young woman who suffered permanent brain damage due to mismanaged electrolyte levels and a $41 million verdict in an obstetrical malpractice case. He has also negotiated numerous settlements exceeding $1 million for his clients.
Board-certified as a Civil Trial Lawyer by both the Florida Bar and the National Board of Trial Advocacy, Mike has been named to Florida Trend Magazine’s Legal Elite, Florida Super Lawyers, and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. He holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer-reviewed distinction.
He serves on the Board of Directors of the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association and is an active member of the Florida Justice Association, the American Association for Justice, the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association, and the National Italian American Bar Association.
