Tampa Medical Malpractice Attorney

Mike Trentalange focuses his practice exclusively on medical malpractice and civil litigation. For almost 30 years, Mr. Trentalange has helped hundreds of clients secure the compensation and benefits they need following catastrophic injury or death of a loved one. In 2018, Mr. Trentalange obtained a verdict in excess of $41 million in an obstetrical malpractice case.  Mr. Trentalange also obtained verdicts in excess of $10 million in 2016, 2014, and 2013, as well as many other settlements and verdicts in excess of $1 million dollars over the course of his career.

Mr. Trentalange is uniquely qualified to handle medical negligence cases. In addition to graduating near the top of his class at Stetson Law School, Mr. Trentalange holds a Master’s degree from Harvard Medical School,  where he spent two years examining issues arising at the intersection of law and medicine with a particular interest in clinical ethics, reproductive medicine and women’s health. He has written and lectured on medical topics including maternal mortality, work hours for medical residents, and physician aid in dying, and on legal topics including controversies in evidence and civil procedure.

But what sets him apart are his commitment to excellence and his unparalleled work ethic, two things he credits to his time spent before law school in the U.S. Army. “I learned how to handle stress at a fairly young age as well as the importance of getting things right the first time.” Mr. Trentalange has vowed to never be outworked by any of his opponents.  One of his favorite quotes is from the late Coach Vince Lombardi: “The only place success comes before work is in the dictionary.”

Mr. Trentalange is deeply committed to his practice and is active in many professional legal organizations including the Florida Justice Association and the American Association for Justice.  He is also a member of the Hillsborough County Bar Association, the Tampa Bay Trial Lawyers Association, the  Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association and the NAACP.  As a result of his success obtaining substantial settlements and awards on behalf of his clients, Mr. Trentalange is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and has received numerous awards and honors for his service and professionalism. Mr. Trentalange received an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, recognition in Florida Trend Magazine as a member of Florida’s Legal Elite, and is a ten-time honoree as a Florida Super Lawyer.

For the past 20 years, Mr. Trentalange has practiced alongside his partner, Elizabeth Kelley – the Kelley of Trentalange & Kelley.  Kelley joined the firm in 1999; the two married in 2001 and together have five children.
