Tampa Veterinary Hospital
As the owner of Tampa Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Melissa Webster has led Tampa’s oldest veterinary hospital through a period of unprecedented growth. Webster is the third owner of the hospital at the iconic Kennedy Boulevard location, and has grown the practice from 15 employees in 2004 to a current team of close to 40. She is truly thankful for the loyal patronage from the South Tampa community and the passion and dedication of her pet care team.
Dr. Webster received her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University before earning her veterinary degree from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia. She has held numerous positions on local veterinary boards and was named Veterinarian of the Year in Hillsborough County in 2006. In addition to seeing patients at Tampa Veterinary Hospital, she also owns Highland Pet Hospital in Lakeland and is a member of the Florida Animal Technical Advisory Council for the Department of Agriculture.
Her career spans more than a quarter century, and her passion for strengthening the animal-human bond remains as strong as ever. She is a skilled surgeon and diagnostician with a compassionate touch and warm heart. It’s no surprise that guests bring their pets from as far as Atlanta to see her. Dr. Webster also welcomes many species of pets that other veterinarians don’t see. She loves seeing reptiles, birds, rabbits and many other ‘non-traditional’ pets. She has a new found passion for veterinary reproduction, as her Lakeland facility is considered one of the top clinics in Florida for reproductive services.
When she’s not seeing patients, Dr. Webster enjoys fishing, horses, traveling, taking her Chocolate Lab to the dog park and playing with her Jack Russell and French Bulldog, but their level of energy pales in comparison to what Dr. Webster exhibits every day in her two veterinary hospitals.
