Dealing with the governmental regulation of private property owners, Mark Bentley handles a wide range of land issues ranging from permitting and approval conflicts to land use disputes and eminent domain cases. “What I have seen the last few years are a significant number of redevelopment and urban infill projects,” Bentley says. “These require creative approaches to working through a complex governmental regulatory system not necessarily equipped to handle these situations.”
Bentley is board-certified as an expert in City, County and Local Government Law by The Florida Bar. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and has been named the Planner of the Year by the local chapter of the American Planning Association – a unique honor for a practicing attorney. “Having planning experience on the government’s side has provided me with a unique perspective in analyzing a situation and determining effective, efficient strategies for my clients,” he says.
Bentley considers his greatest achievement to be contributing to the success of his children. His daughter Erin is a publicist for Warner Bros. in Los Angeles, and his son Adam is a Nashville-based producer/musician and member of the band Arch Echo. Bentley is also involved in the film industry and is producer/writer for two documentaries now in production: Pre-Fab!, the life story of the drummer for the Quarry Men, who evolved into the Beatles, and also the life story of Del Shannon, the singer/songwriter most widely known for his classic hit song “Runaway.”
