L. M. Knox Law and Mediation
Attorney Lisa M. Knox practices marital and family law. This includes child custody, child support, divorces, post-judgment modifications, same-sex family law issues, and paternity actions; Collaborative Law; Adoptions – including stepparent adoptions, traditional adoptions, and second-parent adoptions; and Dependency – including Interventions.
In addition, she is a Florida Supreme Court-certified Family Law Mediator. To each client that she represents, Lisa makes a personal commitment that she will represent their unique interests by providing honest evaluations, realistic expectations, open communication, creative solutions, and, most importantly, skilled legal knowledge.
She is a native Floridian, born and raised in Orlando, Florida. She earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Tuskegee University and a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology with a focus in Consumer Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Lisa earned her Juris Doctor from Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law. She did not take the traditional path to practicing law. Prior to attending law school and practicing Family Law, Lisa experienced issues with divorce, child custody, child support, domestic violence, and the subsequent life changes that these experiences bring.
In addition, she led a successful career in the corporate world and in entrepreneurship. After gaining such life experience, and overcoming major life changes, she decided to follow the path for which she was designed – practicing law.
Because of the life experience that she gained prior to practicing law, Lisa brings a unique perspective to representing her clients. Each of her clients will benefit from the holistic approach that she takes in reviewing and analyzing their cases and their unique situations. For each case and client, Lisa thoroughly considers not only the applicable law and legal strategy to address the issues but also considers how the legal strategy and its execution will serve each client’s best interests after their case comes to a conclusion. Her goal is to leave each client stronger, more prepared, and more confident in their “new normal” than they were before they retained her.
When she is not practicing law, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, mentoring current and future law students, and volunteering in her local community.
