Dr. Kimberly Giffard is a board certified fellow of the American College of Surgeons with over 19 years experience in Surgical Oncology of the Breast as well as Minimally Invasive Surgery. Her skill set has allowed her to guide patients diagnosed with Breast cancer in a multidisciplinary oncologic setting in a compassionate manner, and has  allowed her to treat patients with a spectrum of gastrointestinal, abdominal wall, and soft tissue pathology.

Dr. Giffard’s vocation in medicine began at age 17 after a devastating motor vehicle accident. Undergoing emergency surgery at UC Davis Medical Center, she made a full recovery and graduated Valedictorian.  She attended Santa Clara University and graduated with high honors in neuropsychology and was accepted to the Medical College of Wisconsin

Her role models in Medical school included many strong female surgeons who inspired her career in surgery.  Later,  Dr. Giffard  completed a General Surgical Residency at New York Methodist Hospital and then pursued her interests in advanced laparoscopy and desire to experience surgery in an international tertiary care setting as an Advanced Surgical Trainee affiliated with Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia.

Dr. Giffard then returned to a busy surgical partnership in New York City, focusing on Surgical Oncology of the Breast and Minimally Invasive Surgery.  In 2008, Dr. Giffard was pleased to relocate to Tampa to Join Sunshine State Surgery, which later merged with Tampa Bay Surgical Group. There she joined 18 other accomplished Board certified Tampa Bay Area surgeons  striving for excellence in general, colorectal, vascular, and ENT surgery.

Presently, Dr. Giffard offers comprehensive breast care at her Sun City and South Tampa locations and treats  patients at the TGH Cancer Center  as part of the Breast Health program. She offers treatment of benign and malignant breast pathology, including core needle biopsy, SAVI Scout localized surgical biopsy, and definitive surgical therapy for malignant disease.  Possessing a strong background as an artist  in multiple media, Dr. Giffard  has been pleased to incorporate Oncoplastic techniques for breast conservation therapy.  She was later excited to expand her practice to include  Davinci Robotic training and performs hernia surgery  with improved outcomes through this platform.

When  not in the operating room, Dr. Giffard  enjoys Tampa life with husband Chris, and children  Arianna and  Chase, ages 10 and 9.  She loves exploring nature and teaching the kids art appreciation as well as the occasional science experiment!
