This year is flying by and Tampa is bursting with the vibrant colors of spring. It’s important to get out on the weekends and enjoy life. Let’s highlight some fabulous events that took place in April, just in case you missed it!
Busch Gardens Food and Wine Festival offered Tampa Bay residents a fun way to get out of the house, satisfy the taste buds, and hang out with some wild animals. Attendees sampled lite bites, wines, beer, cocktail creations, and live entertainment. One of the biggest hits was the Art of Food, which allowed you to watch in awe as fruit was carved into magical art work right in front of you.
Safety Harbor Songfest celebrated its fourth year running on April 1-2. Nationally acclaimed musical acts of all different genres, including blues, indie alternative, folk, bluegrass, country, jazz, and pop, made an appearance. The event took place on the town’s charming waterfront park, setting the mood for a unique experience that brought people together from all over to enjoy music, art, performers, bubble ball interactive fun, face painting, and much more.
A fascinating experience at the Tampa Chillounge Night at Curtis Hixon Park, the “Taste Edition,” took place on April 8. Three semi trucks of lounge furniture were brought in for comfort and style, and guests enjoyed live music, performances, a fashion show, fireworks, and live streaming. Fine food from 20 different local restaurants and food trucks made sure no one went hungry. This event was an evening of fun, entertainment, food, and music in a luxurious outdoor setting.
In March we had strawberry festivals, and then came the blueberries. The Florida Blueberry Festival was held in Brooksville on April 22-23, with live entertainment, arts & crafts, music, dancing, food, and plenty of juicy blueberries. Families sampled delicious blueberry dishes, from desserts, wine, jam, and honey, to things you never thought of.
One of the most exciting events this year was the Sunscreen Film Festival held in St. Petersburg on April 27-30. This event is internationally recognized and one of only 23 to be sponsored and acknowledge by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Filmmakers and celebrities attend from around the world. Workshops, film screenings, red carpet events, and after-parties with celebrities make this an event not to miss next year.
