Erin M. Diaz joined Wicker Smith in 2003 and is an equity partner in the firm’s Tampa office. Ms. Diaz litigates a wide variety of general civil litigation matters in both state and federal courts representing clients in the defense of professional malpractice, wrongful death, products liability, premises liability, automobile/trucking negligence, construction, and long-term care claims. She also has an extensive background in nursing which has proven to be a valuable asset in her law practice. 

Ms. Diaz received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from West Virginia University graduating summa cum laude in 1994.  She was then commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force after successfully completing the Air Force ROTC program and served four years on active duty as an Officer and Registered Nurse.  Ms. Diaz thereafter earned her Juris Doctor with honors from the University of North Dakota in 2001.  She practiced in North Dakota and Minnesota representing plaintiffs and defendants in civil and criminal matters before relocating to Florida and joining Wicker Smith.

“As a Veteran and Registered Nurse, my goal in becoming a litigator was to help those individuals and businesses being sued through the litigation process and defend them to the best of my ability,” says Ms. Diaz. “Many of my clients will have only one litigation experience, so when I make the call to introduce myself and begin the discussion of what is to come, I am there to help provide not only a level of comfort, but also to represent them as ethically and zealously as possible.  I want to provide them the caliber of representation that I would expect from an attorney working on my behalf.”

Ms. Diaz has earned an AV Preeminent™ rating from her peers, the highest level rating awarded to lawyers by Martindale-Hubbell. In 2009, she was named as a Florida Super Lawyer “Rising Star.” She is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, USLAW, the Florida Defense Lawyers Association, the Professional Liability Defense Federation, and the Hillsborough County Bar Association.  Ms. Diaz is licensed in Florida state and federal court – Middle and Northern Districts.
