Dr. Eric Kaplan has practiced Psychiatry in the Tampa Bay area since 1990.  He received a bachelor’s degree in Biology and Anthropology from Emory University in 1982.   He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1986.  Dr. Kaplan completed his Psychiatry Residency at the University of South Florida Department of Psychiatry.  He was elected and served as Chief Resident in his final year of residency.

Dr. Kaplan is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the American Board of Forensic Medicine and the American Board of Disability Analysts.

In his clinical practice, Dr. Kaplan treats a wide variety of mental disorders including Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders and Substance Use Disorders.  Dr. Kaplan specializes in complex psychopharmacology and treatment of traumatic brain injuries.

Dr. Kaplan is also a Forensic Psychiatrist providing the courts with expert opinions regarding a wide variety of criminal and civil issues.

Dr. Kaplan is the Medical Director of Harmony Hills, a residential psychiatric treatment facility and NeuLife Rehab, a facility providing rehabilitation treatment for people with brain and spinal cord injuries.

Outside of his office, Dr. Kaplan is an avid runner.  He has completed 28 consecutive Walt Disney Marathons.  His greatest running achievement is completing the Keys 100, a 100-mile ultramarathon.
