Elizabeth Scarola advises a wide range of clients in the health care industry as they navigate today’s complex regulatory landscape. She works with academic medical centers, health systems, hospitals, providers, clinical research sites, electronic health record companies, and other entities supporting the health care sector.
Elizabeth is board certified in Health Law by The Florida Bar. Board certification is Florida’s official, independent determination of a lawyer’s expertise in a specialty field of law. It represents the gold standard for Florida lawyers and reflects peer recognition of a lawyer’s professional excellence and experience.
Her proficiency extends to analyzing regulatory trends and policy developments, offering counsel on federal and state fraud and abuse laws, clinical research regulations, and legal challenges related to telehealth and telemedicine. She brings valuable insight from her tenure at a multistate health system, as well as experience gained through strategic projects for a statewide, clinically integrated network of hospitals and providers. Additionally, she has conducted clinical research and contributed to prestigious publications such as The Journal of the American Medical Association and The New England Journal of Medicine.
Elizabeth guides health industry clients through strategic transactions, including drafting and negotiating agreements related to hospital mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and affiliations. Her work includes preparing clinical trial and facility use agreements and advising on FDA audits. She also assists clients with compliance strategies involving privacy laws and cybersecurity and provides counsel on Florida-specific regulatory matters.
A frequent speaker on health care law topics, Elizabeth has taught undergraduate and graduate courses on health care policy, medical ethics, patient safety, and compliance. Her contributions to the legal profession have been recognized through honors such as The Best Lawyers in America and inclusion on the Florida Rising Stars list.
