He is a board-certified adult psychiatrist and board-eligible in addiction psychiatry, with a career rooted in cutting-edge research and patient-focused care.
Dr. Shah’s journey began with an NIH-funded research fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1998, followed by a psychiatry residency at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN, completed in 2003. Since then, he has been at the forefront of mental health care, actively contributing to Phase 3 clinical trials to advance psychiatric treatment options.
As a key physician at Florida Behavioral Medicine, Dr. Shah serves patients across three locations in the Tampa Bay area. He is certified in electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) through Duke University and has been providing this life-changing treatment at Windmoor Hospital since 2003. Dr. Shah’s expertise extends to transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), a groundbreaking therapy for severe, chronic depression unresponsive to traditional methods. Utilizing the BrainsWay Deep TMS system, he offers this innovative solution at his Largo location.
