Dr. Michael Carranza, a Tampa native and University of Florida Gator, is excited to bring his expertise to Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health Gastroenterology. His journey into medicine began at the University of Florida, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology. He then attended Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale. Upon graduating, Dr. Carranza completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, where he had the honor of serving as Chief Medical Resident.
After residency, Dr. Carranza returned to the Tampa Bay area to complete his fellowship training in gastroenterology through the HCA Healthcare/University of South Florida Graduate Medical Education Consortium. Dr. Carranza is eager to serve the Wesley Chapel and North Tampa communities, providing patient-centered care that combines his skills and compassion for every patient.
Dr. Carranza takes a personalized approach to patient care, blending the science of medicine with the art of understanding and addressing each patient’s unique needs. Whether treating general gastrointestinal conditions or more complex diseases, he ensures that every patient receives an individualized care plan. His goal is to not only treat symptoms but to improve his patients’ overall well-being.
Outside of work, Dr. Carranza enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. He is a passionate Tampa Bay Lightning fan and enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing, and traveling. Additionally, Dr. Carranza is a fan of science-fiction novels and films, offering him a balanced and well-rounded life outside of his medical practice.
