As a Louisiana native, Dr. Kristen Lester’s love for warm weather, delicious food, and friendly people runs deep. She truly believes that every meal tastes better with cheesy grits. In addition to her love of grits, her mission is to fight cancer in pets.
Dr. Lester’s grandfather practiced veterinary medicine for over 50 years, so from an early age, she was exposed to the joy and fulfillment that being a veterinarian brings. She earned a degree in Animal Science from Louisiana Tech University and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Louisiana State University.
After marrying her husband, Chris, they took a quiz that confirmed they were coastal people. Acting on a whim, they moved to Charleston, South Carolina. After living there for over a decade, they relocated to Tampa and couldn’t be happier.
Dr. Lester has spent nearly 19 years as a general practice veterinarian with a special interest in oncology. A typical day at All Creatures Animal Hospital includes dentistry, wellness care, dermatology, and more, but it is her cancer cases that bring her the most fulfillment. Turning something sad and scary into a positive experience for both pet and owner is what brings her joy. She has written for DogCancer.com, recorded a podcast about chemotherapy, and serves as a resource for her colleagues as a Medical Director. Dr. Lester is also a Fear Free Elite Certified Professional, meaning she strives to create a “zen” experience for her patients.
When not working, Dr. Lester enjoys pool life, Bucs football, taking naps with her pups, and eating delicious food. She and her husband share their home with their dogs—Jeffrey, Pebbles, and Margot Bobbie—collectively known as the “Furballs of Fury.” They fill their home with love, funny stories, and plenty of dog hair.
