Sun Coast Equine Veterinary Care – Keeping Athletes Performing Their Best!

Dr. Kaylin Van Horn grew up in upstate New York before moving to Phoenix, Arizona, where she competed in hunters, jumpers, and equitation. She then went on to study Animal Sciences and earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University. Through her background in riding and her time in veterinary school, she developed a strong passion for sport horse medicine and lameness. She trained at top referral hospitals and continued her education through a post-graduate internship, further expanding her knowledge and skill set.

She spent several years as an official show veterinarian for the World Equestrian Center – Wilmington, caring for the athletes competing there, as well as working as a private associate veterinarian. After the birth of their first child, she and her husband moved to Florida to establish an innovative equine veterinary practice. In 2023, she became certified in Veterinary Medical Manipulation (chiropractic) through Chi University and is currently pursuing ISELP certification to further her expertise in lameness diagnosis and treatment.

Her professional interests include sport horse medicine, lameness, wellness, and emergency care, and she is deeply committed to advocating for her patients. She values teamwork and the relationships she builds with owners, horses, and fellow professionals, including trainers, farriers, and bodyworkers. The practice is continuously expanding its services; this year alone, they added a fully equipped veterinary service truck, Shockwave therapy, and a state-of-the-art facility offering rehabilitation, medical, and vacation boarding.

Dr. Kaylin, her husband Tyler, and their children, Roman and Eden, enjoy spending family time at the beach, swimming, trail riding, and participating in church activities. Most importantly, the Van Horns strive to glorify God in all they do.

Sun Coast Equine Veterinary Care is excited to provide exceptional care to the equine population of the Tampa Bay Area!
