Dr. Deren Goker, DO

Internal Medicine Physician, Hospitalist

Dr. Deren Goker is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician that received his medical degree from Touro University California College of Osteopathic Medicine. Prior to this, he attended Georgetown University for his undergraduate degree, then earned a Master’s of Medical Science at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He completed his residency at SkyRidge Medical Center in Denver, Colorado prior to moving to Tampa where he currently practices as a Hospitalist with Optum Florida. He is credentialed at 6 hospitals in the greater Tampa area but is mainly stationed at St. Joseph’s Hospital Main Campus, as well as AdventHealth Carrollwood. 

Throughout his journey in medicine, he has been exposed to patients of varying socioeconomic statuses and levels of health literacy. He prides himself on developing a trustworthy relationship with his patients that is rooted in empathy and compassion. His overarching goal in the care of his patients is centered around listening and teaching. He aims to equip his patients with knowledge regarding the causes and consequences of their current and chronic health issues, as well as the rationale behind the therapies indicated for them. He believes this will provide patients with the confidence needed to make major lifestyle modifications and adhere to treatment plans, thereby avoiding future hospitalizations and achieving an improved quality of life. 

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Goker enjoys spending time with his significant other, who works as an RN at AdventHealth Tampa, and their French Bulldog, Andre. He is an avid golf and tennis player, and considers himself an amateur food critic, as he loves to explore the new restaurants that Tampa & St. Pete have to offer!
