Board Certified Appellate Attorney de la Parte & Gilbert, P.A.
David Caldevilla began his career as an appellate lawyer over 30 years ago, as a Staff Attorney to the Honorable Jack R. Schoonover at the Florida Second District Court of Appeal. After a two-year stint at the Court, he joined the law firm of de la Parte & Gilbert, P.A.—where he has been ever since.
At de la Parte & Gilbert, P.A., David has handled a diverse range of civil, administrative, and appellate litigation, including highly complex environmental, class action, consumer protection, and insurance disputes. He earned his Board Certification in appellate practice over 20 years ago in 1997, and has handled appeals in all five Florida District Courts of Appeal, the Florida Supreme Court, the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a past Chairman of the Judicial Nominating Commission for the Florida Second District Court of Appeal and a past Secretary of the Florida Appellate Court Rules Committee, and he is currently serving as Chairman of The Florida Bar’s Appellate Practice Certification Committee. He has also served as General Counsel to the Municipal Gas Authority of Florida, as special counsel to Sumter County in eminent domain matters, and as hearing officer in utility franchise and rate cases for Hillsborough County.
In his spare time, David enjoys driving his vintage 1966 Corvette Stingray, and creating automotive artwork. Using imaginative camera angles, layers of digital-editing effects, and many hours of editing, his photographs of vintage cars and hot rods are transformed into colorful artwork that he calls, “Automotography.” His artwork is on display at his on-line art gallery (www.automotography.com).
