David Murray is an experienced trial lawyer who has dedicated his legal practice to representing insureds mistreated by their insurance companies. For more than 20 years, he has advocated for clients across Florida, handling insurance cases for policyholders against insurance companies in instances of coverage denials, underpayments, and unfair claims practices, commonly referred to as “Bad Faith.”
David’s clients range from individuals and partnerships to businesses, condominiums, hotels, and corporations that have faced denials, underpayments, or mistreatment by their insurance companies. He has extensive trial experience and is known for his legislative advocacy in Tallahassee, championing stringent consumer protections against insurance companies.
He has been recognized as a “Super Lawyer,” an honor given to less than 5% of Florida attorneys. Murray also holds an AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell for his expertise and ethics in insurance coverage issues, indicating that his peers consider him to be at the top of his profession. He has extensive trial experience and is admitted to the Florida Bar and all Federal Courts in Florida.
Murray’s educational background includes a degree in political science and public administration from Elon University, as well as a law degree and an MBA from Stetson University. His career began as an Assistant State Attorney in Tampa, and he subsequently transitioned to insurance litigation, where he has represented thousands of clients across Florida. He is also actively involved in community service, supporting local foster children by serving as a Guardian ad Litem and as the Chair for the Heart Gallery of Tampa.
His expertise in insurance law has been highlighted over the years through media appearances, and he recently participated in the documentary “Built to Last: Buyer Beware,” wherein he addresses the impacts of building standards on property insurance claims and the importance of robust homeowner protections in the fields of property insurance and construction.
