William “Bill” J. Kimpton, Esq. – Founding Partner

With over five decades of legal experience, Bill J. Kimpton is a cornerstone of Tampa Bay’s real estate law community. A graduate of Duke University School of Law, Bill began his distinguished career in 1972 and has since become a trusted authority in real estate contracts, development agreements, financing, and zoning law. His expertise spans complex commercial transactions and financing, title insurance issues, and property tax valuation. Bill’s leadership includes serving as past chairman of the Pinellas Real Estate Law Council, president of the Business Assistance Council, and founding chairman and board member of Flagship Community Bank. Known for his strategic insight and dedication to client success, Bill continues to shape the region’s legal landscape with precision and professionalism. Specializing in commercial loan transactions, representation of commercial banks and lenders, and other various real estate matters.

Barbara M. Brown, Esq. – Founding Partner

Barbara M. Brown brings over two decades of dynamic legal experience to Brown & Kimpton, P.A., with a focus on real estate law, litigation, asset protection, and probate. Admitted to practice in both Florida and Texas, Barbara has been a driving force in the Tampa Bay legal community since 2002. She currently serves as President of the Bay Area Real Estate Council and sits on multiple advisory boards, including the Florida Attorneys’ Real Estate Council. Barbara is also pursuing an LL.M. in Real Property Development at the University of Miami, further deepening her expertise. Her commitment to excellence, community involvement, and handling multi-million dollar closings, such as the recent sale of two historic commercial buildings in Ybor City, and the storage complex in Pasco County, has earned her repeated recognition as one of Tampa Bay’s Top Lawyers. 

Ashley J. Likens, Esq. – Trial Attorney  

Ashley J. Likens has centered her career on building a strong courtroom presence, having won cases at all stages of litigation from motions to dismiss, summary judgment, and at trial. Her adaptability and passion for advocacy positions her to handle complicated real estate and contractual matters with nuanced issues. As a graduate from The Ohio State University and Capital University Law School from the Rust Belt, she brings determination and grit to help her clients be heard in the judicial system. As a trial lawyer since the start of her career while defense counsel for major insurance companies in personal injury and business disputes, she brings a multi-disciplinary approach to helping clients leverage their positions. She is known for being honest in representation and anticipating any pitfalls in order to help her clients navigate the best outcome for any given scenario.

Colton L. Chrimes, Esq. – Associate Partner

Colton L. Chrimes is a powerhouse in real estate law, with a strong foundation in finance and real estate.  A graduate of Florida State University and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida Levin College of Law — both earned cum laude — Colton brings precision, strategy, and depth to every matter he handles.  He further sharpened his expertise with an LL.M. in Real Property Development from the University of Miami, positioning him at the forefront of complex real estate transactions and litigation. Colton’s experience spans top firms across Florida, where he has built a reputation for delivering results in high-stakes cases involving real estate, construction, and professional liability.

Nicole M. Torres, Esq. – Associate Attorney 

Nicole M. Torres is a driven and detail-oriented attorney known for her commitment to justice and precision in legal advocacy.  As an Associate Attorney, Nicole focuses her practice on contracts, estate planning, and business entities, with a client-centered focus on representation.  Nicole earned her J.D. from Stetson University College of Law, where she developed a strong foundation in contract drafting, legal analysis, and negotiation. Nicole obtained her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University (GEAUX TIGERS!), where she earned a B.S. in Sport Administration, Sports Commerce Concentration and a minor in Business Administration. Nicole currently serves on the executive board of the LSU Tampa Bay Alumni Association, where she has held the titles of President and Vice President.

James A. Rodgers, II – Law Clerk 

James A. Rodgers, II is a real estate professional and law clerk, focusing on land use, zoning, and public finance for real estate development projects. He holds a J.D. from Southern University Law Center and an LL.M. in Real Property Development from the University of Miami. A proud graduate of North Carolina A&T State University, James began his career in community development—work that continues to drive his passion for affordable housing and equitable growth.  He has worked with major developers such as Integral and Legacy Real Estate Development, contributing to large-scale affordable housing initiatives. James brings a unique blend of legal knowledge, development experience, and strategic insight to projects that strengthen communities while promoting economic opportunity.  In addition to his professional work, James currently serves in the Army National Guard, bringing over a decade of military experience that has sharpened his leadership, discipline, and mission-driven approach.  James’ Florida Bar application was pending at the time of publication.
