Bayfront Health Medical Group Colorectal Surgery offers expertise and experience in the treatment of colorectal conditions, with a focus on colon, rectal and anal tumors, as well as inflammatory bowel disease and pelvic floor disorders. Leveraging the latest surgical options and state-of-the-art technology, the surgical team employs minimally invasive and robotic techniques for most procedures. 

Dr. Jennifer Ayscue is the chief of colorectal surgery for the west region at Bayfront Health. With over 23 years of experience as a colorectal surgeon, she has emerged as a passionate leader in surgical quality, safety, and outcomes. Dr. Ayscue holds board certifications in both colon and rectal surgery, as well as general surgery. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, where she serves on national committees. Dr. Ayscue is also a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Surgical Oncology.

Dr. Ayscue earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. She completed her residency in general surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, followed by a colorectal surgery fellowship at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. Additionally, she holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. 

Dr. J. Ryan Williams, a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon, brings nearly a decade of service to the Tampa/St. Petersburg community. His expertise lies in the specialized care of colon and rectal conditions, including cancers of the colon, rectum, anus, and pelvic region. Dr. Williams is certified as a console surgeon on da Vinci® Robotic Surgical Systems. He performs complex laparoscopic and minimally invasive surgeries including transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for some colon and rectal polyps. 

Dr. Williams earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine before completing his postdoctoral training at the University of South Florida as a general surgery resident and colon and rectal surgery fellow. He maintains his research endeavors, currently focusing on colorectal cancer, the human gut microbiome, and pelvic floor disorders. Dr. Williams is an active member of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and American College of Surgeons, where he serves on multiple committees nationally.

Tami Allen, a certified physician assistant, helps with the care of all colorectal surgical patients, from first appointment through postoperative recovery. Graduating with honors from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, Tami is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and Florida Academy of Physician Assistants.
